Man! Where have I been for the last 2 weeks. I’ve been beyond busy and this blog has definitely been the last thing on my list (and cleaning the bathroom ). Volleyball season started the end of August and I’ve been staying plenty busy coaching my 8th grade team. We play 6 days a week, with 2 games during the week, a tournament on Saturday and practice every other day aside from Sunday. My team got the short straw and the majority of our practices are in the morning.
With the starting of school and volleyball, I’ve also been trying to do more preschool activities with little G man. He is 3 1/2 and this year has been so fun teaching him preschool things. He is such a good learner (unless he is tired or hungry, then it’s impossible).
So, a typical day these days is as follows:
5:30 a.m. – alarm goes off, get dressed, eat, etc.
6:00 – head to volleyball practice
6:30 – 8ish – Volleyball practice
8:30 – get home and start getting preschool stuff together
9:30 – 10:30 – Preschool (most of the time just my boys, but sometimes with some of little G man’s buddies)
10:30 – 12 – play with the boys, clean, or run errands in town
12 – 12:30 – lunch
12:30 – 3 (on good days) – Naptime and Quiet time. Both boys are suppose to chill or sleep and give me some time to myself
3 – 4:30 – survive until Dad gets home from work
5 or 6 – dinner
7 – 7:30 – get boys ready for bed
8 (bad nights = 9) – boys are in bed, start working (The Baxter Boy)
MIDNIGHT or 1am – done working, go to bed
Game days are a little different, in that I get to sleep in until 8 and don’t have to make dinner . I’m just busy and tired, but I ask for it. I love coaching!! My running happens during nap/quiet time on my treadmill. The weather is getting worse every day, so running with the boys isn’t the most fun. I’m too tired to do it in the morning and there are a few evenings that I workout with my man before we start working (yes, he works for me making bow ties & suspenders!). I’ve been averaging 3-8 milers 3 days a week, nothing special or big, but still staying in some kind of running shape.
As for my team, it’s been slow going. Our last few games seem like they are getting worse not better. There is a lot of petty teenage girl drama going on every now and then and it just makes me mad. But there has been awesome progress in some girls. Today our morning practice was pretty pointless. Everyone was dragging their feet and playing like crap, so I called it quits and made them draw volleyballs instead. Kinda ridiculous, but they had fun and it’s good team bonding, right?! Then they all signed my shirt with a volleyball and their number.
That’s my busy life for the next few weeks. My blogging will probably continue to be lame and minimal until after the volleyball season is over. Oh, and my littlest brother got engaged a week or two ago. Congrats to him. Pretty exciting!
